Violin
1806 | Franz Geissenhof
This violin is an individual model that bears some strong similarities to Stradivari's instruments. This instrument is very well-preserved. Its neck, nut and fingerboard are original. The pegs and the tailpiece, with their ornamental, Biermeier-style decorations, are old - and possibly also - original. There exists a sister-instrument to this violin from the same year (SAM 684). (rh)
Literature: Rudolf Hopfner: Franz Geissenhof and His Time, Bergkirchen 2009, p. 137
