Violin
ca. 1883 | Carl Zach
In 1884 Carl Zach (ca. 1850‒1918) also presented the Schrammel brothers with violins, bearing the portrait heads of the musicians. As his dedication was documented on the ribs in golden letters and the Schrammel ensemble always attracted public attention, this may also be interpreted as a successful advertising campaign for the luthier. Zach’s business success was not permanent, though. After the turn of the century, he was faced with financial difficulties and died completely impoverished in London. (rh)
