Recorder (descant)
16. or 17. century | anonym
From todays point of view, the descant recorder SAM 129 is rather considered as a decorative instrument than an instrument of daily use. Possibly, it served as a model in visual arts, or, vice versa, the maker was oriented towards paintings by Evaristo Beschenis, who depicted recorders with similar ornaments. The uneven design of the recorder's window, the asymmetric position of the thumb hole, the throughout cylindrical inner bore profile, and the almost equidistant filger holes speak against a musical use of this instrument.
