Stele of Senwosret

beginning of the 13th Dynasty, ca. 1786-1740 BC

Anubis, the god of the dead, and Wepwawet, god of the necropolis, are depicted in the rounded gable. The texts inscribed below include offering formulas and words in praise of Osiris. At the left he is depicted mummiform, wearing the White Crown and holding a was-scepter in his hands. Opposite him stands Senwosret, the donor of the stele.
