Cornetto (muto)
16th century | anonym
The "cornettino" SAM 219 is part of a consort kept in its original case. The instruments are signed with "MI". The narrow mouthpiece integrated into the instrument and therfore not vivsible from outside is typical for mute cornetti. The conical inner bore runs in a homogenous style over a length of 431.5 mm with a bore diameter from ca. 12 mm to ca. 20 mm. The flamed maple gives the instrument an attractive outer appearance.
