Natural horn
1745 | Adam Ferber
Typologically, post horns are very small horns that were produced either in circular or elongated form. The characteristics of post horns include their extremely small dimensions and, above all, their mouthpiece that conforms to a bowl mouthpiece instead of the funnel mouthpiece otherwise more common for horns. Later on, post horns could also be provided with keys or valves. The silver post horn by Ferber is distinguished by its fine engraving on the bell in the form of applied horsemen equipped with swords and turban-like hats. (bd)
