26th Dynasty, ca. reign of Apries, 589–570 BC

“Pharaoh’s Eunuch” Ihel presents offerings to Isis and Osiris, god of the dead. The green color of Osiris’s face signifies the renewal of vegetation and resurrection. The text contains a chapter of the Book of the Dead that enjoins the ba (soul) to return to the body every night to ensure the deceased’s continued existence in the hereafter.
