Liniendekor

1625 - 1450 v. Chr.

The barrel-shaped body with slightly convex wall has a straight base and angularly carinated flat shoulders. On the top is a narrow, concave neck with a slanted spout; a vertical band handle extends from the rear edge of the shoulder to the middle of the neck. In front of the spout on the forward edge of the shoulder is the protome of a horned animal. Painted decoration in dark-brown to black: on the body are four groups, each with four vertical parallel lines, framed by simple, vertical wavy lines; there are three circumambient parallel horizontal lines beneath the edge of the shoulder, two above the edge of the bottom. On the shoulders, simple zigzag line (right), triple chevrons (left) and a straight line below the handle; on the neck of the protome and on the neck of the spout are vertical lines; at the base of each, a circumambient horizontal line; the rim of the spout is outlined. On the top of the handle, vertical double zigzag line and on the base, horizontal lines. Because of the painted decoration, the juglet with protome is classified as white painted ware V; the shape of the body, however, is rare and only a few examples exist.
