Weibliches Idol der Base-Ring Ware

1450 - 1200 v. Chr.

Standing nude female figure. Handmade, hollow. “Base-ring” ware fabric, smooth with strokes. Exaggeratedly long pointed nose, short groove for mouth, eyes rendered with pellets impressed with a circle, large ears, flat head protruding at the back. Cylindrical neck, pointed breasts. Slender arms bent forward, the hands support the breasts, the fingers rendered with grooves. The pubic triangle is outlined with grooved lines and is filled with horizontal rows of oblique, grooved strokes. The legs are close to one another and are flattened but not bent at the terminals where there are the feet, with vertical grooves to show the toes. Black paint for hair, purple stroke for mouth, two black and one purple-brown band around neck, red paint for navel, black paint inside triangle. The back side is plain.
