1125 - 1050 v. Chr.
Oblong slender body with a flattened prow that is pointed at the lower part. The stern, which was curved upwards, is missing. The stem of the prow is high, flattened and curved inwards. Raised flat loop handle in the middle, between prow and stern. The top of the boat and keel are flattened. Airhole at top of body at the springing of the stern of the prow. Decoration in red to dark-brown matte paint. Both sides of the boat are decorated with geometric motifs in a more or less similar manner, consisting of a narrow vertical panel along the edge of the prow filled with solid triangles. The rest of the body is decorated with a frieze of large triangles filled with lattice pattern or with diamonds, some are composite triangles filled with hatchings. Transversal strokes on stem on either side, transversal bands at top of the boat and on outer part of handle.The askos is said to have been found in a tomb at Lapithos that yielded a number of other vases of proto-white painted ware. It can be assigned to the mature style.
