Architrave of Hetepi

6th Dynasty, ca. 2374-2191 BC

The architrave was discovered broken into three pieces near Hetepi’s tomb; it comes either from the entrance or from the false door in the cult chamber. The inscription, reading from right to left, comprises an offering formula with the tomb owner’s request for blessings and favors. At the far left he is depicted seated and holding a long staff.
