This bronze statuette shows Pan, the Greek god of shepherds. In his right hand he is holding his attribute, a shepherd’s pipe which was invented by him. Pan, the son of Hermes, the messenger of the gods, liked to shock shepherds and wanderers, so that they “panicked“.
