Osmanischer Holzlöffel

2. Hälfte 16. Jahrhundert

The spoon, part of a set, is undecorated and could be identified in the estate inventory of 1596.During the Ottoman rule, the very rich decorations of the Seljuk woodworks became simpler, although they were supplemented by new techniques, like mother-of-pearl inlets. The spoons at the back are decorated with the saz pattern (saz = reed), serrated leaves in crescent shapes and lotus palmettes.
