Osmanischer Holzlöffel
2. Hälfte 16. Jahrhundert
The spoon, part of a set, is mentioned in the estate inventory of 1596.It features gold painting on a blue or green base. During the Ottoman rule, the very rich decorations of the Seljuk woodworks became simpler, although they were supplemented by new techniques, like mother-of-pearl inlets. The spoons at the back are decorated with the saz pattern (saz = reed), serrated leaves in crescent shapes and lotus palmettes.
