Coffin of Meret-en-ahet

End of the 20th to beginning of the 21st Dynasty, ca. 1200–1050 BC

Meret-en-ahat bears the title “Chantress of Isis”. The exterior of her coffin is richly decorated with figures of gods, religious symbols, and inscriptions. Early in the 20th century the coffin was restored and wax applied to the surface which is the reason that the paintings are much darker today than they were originally.
