Upper part from the statue of a queen

18th Dynasty, reign of Thutmose III, 1504–1452 BC

The woman wears the vulture headdress – a very ancient attribute of Egyptian queens – and a striated wig with volutelike coils of hair fram ing her face. A broad beaded necklace lies over the wide shoulder straps of her dress. The style of carving suggests that this sculpture is datable to the reign of Thutmose III.
