The little Tambourine Player

around 1510–15? | Venezianisch

The theme is part of the elegiac, idyllic range of subjects found in Venetian painting. The wide and flat composition, the delicate, light-suffused landscape background and above all the roughly drawn body with little concern for contours, all point to a creator closely associated with the early Titian. The putto has been ascribed variously to Giorgione, Titian and Lotto, to name just some of the most famous artists.
