Portrait of a Warrior

The warrior in armour appears in half-length against a dark background. To the right of him in profile we see the grimace of an ugly old man. Like Titian’s “Bravo” (Inv.-Nr. GG 64), where two men in half-length also face one another, the meaning of this scene is unclear. Despite its poor condition, the work’s high artistic quality points to Giorgione as the creator.
