Stele of Wepwawet-mes

early 19th Dynasty, reign of Sety I, ca. 1314-1304 BC

Wepwawet-mes, holding an incense burner, stands before the gods Osiris, Horus, Isis, and Wepwawet. The winged sun disk above them is a royal protective device. The ‘offering formula’ in the horizontal lines of text includes those things Wepwawet-mes requested of the gods – for example, that he might play a board game with his soul.
