Kleid, Obergewand, Textil, Kleidung

16. Jahrhundert

The caftan-like, thin linen garment is decorated with a patterned taffeta border in several panels running from the shoulders to the lower hem as well as on the lower sleeves. The careless attachment in rough stitches suggests that the border was subsequently attached to the textile for presentation in the Ferdinand collection. The garment comes from the Ambras collection and was kept together with other "exotic" garments in the so-called "Variokasten".
