Statuette, Kleinbronze, Bronze, Venus marina
Ende 16. Jahrhundert | Nicolo Roccatagliata
The naked, femal bronze statue is “Venus Marina“. Her right leg is standing on a dolphine. Following a legend the antique goddess of beauty and love was born out of sea foam, that’s why she is shown together with a seashell or a dolphin. A characteristic Renaissance motif is Venus Marina´s turned standing and position the so called "figura serpentinata".
