Relief fragment from Sakeh’s tomb
late 18th Dynasty, post-Amarna Period, ca. 1343-1315 BC
The upper part of this wall relief shows the tomb owner Sakeh with his ba – his soul as a human-headed bird – receiving offerings from a tree goddess. Sakeh bore important titles such as ‘confidant of the king at Memphis, king’s spokesman, and prince of Memphis.’ In the lower register; the detailed wig he wears is especially noteworthy.
