Young Woman in a black Dress

The black dress slides from the shoulder – revealing a white, finely folded blouse and even the lady’s cleavage. She is wearing her delicately curled, golden, glittering hair loose. Simpler in presentation and colouring than that of Violante (Inv.-Nr. GG 64), this picture still belongs to the series of Venetian “bella donna” portraits. Although Titian’s authorship is not proven, the composition and artistic nuances leave little doubt as to his authorship of this work.
