The Parable of the Rich Man and Lazarus

The parable of the rich man and the poor Lazarus is devoted to the compensatory justice after death. As in most representations of this subject, the painter depicts the contrast between the poor, half-naked Lazarus lying at the threshold of the rich man’s house with dogs licking his sores and the wealthy owner being served at the table in the background.
