Statuette, Kleinbronze, Herkules, Herakles

Ende 16. Jahrhundert / Anfang 17. Jahrhundert | Nicolo Roccatagliata

This bronze statuette showing Hercules was probably also made by Niccoló Roccatagliata (1593-1636), who worked mainly in Venice. The hero is standing in front of a tree stump. In his right hand he is holding his atribute, a club. Hercules, the son of Jupiter and a mortal woman, had to do 12 heroic deeds to escape the pursuits of Juno.
