Four-seater travelling carriage of the Counts Harrach
around 1775
A berlin which is as simply designed as it is elegant with crane-neck undercarriage and - particularly characteristic for the late 18th century - its carriage body suspended on S-springs. Besides the solid design of the undercarriage, its function as a travelling carriage is also indicated by the footman's step which has been extended to a storage surface and the windows hung with patterned wooden blinds. (MKR)
