Four-seated Personal Calash à la Daumont

An elegant open carriage without coach box which was drawn by six horses and driven by mounted coachmen ("jockeys"). Thanks to this "à la Daumont" style, on fine days one could enjoy an unobstructed view and also be seen well oneself. The lavishly designed carriage with double suspension and much gold-plating was mainly used for the journeys of foreign potentates from and to the station, during which the guest sat to the Emperor's right. (MKR)
