Blanker Feldharnisch, Kinderrüstung, vormals Rüstung eines Zwergen

um 1567

The small suit of armour was long associated with the armour for Archduke Ferdinand II's "court dwarf", Thomele. The existence of such a dwarf's armour was once confirmed by an inventory (1583) and is supported by a portrait of a dwarf, probably Thomele, in armour, which was rediscovered in the KHM in 2016. According to a collection inventory from 1806, the dwarf's armour was stolen in the course of the Bavarian-French occupation and is now part of the collections of Erbach Castle (southern Hesse).
