Standing figure of Shepses-ptah

late 6th Dynasty, ca. 2200-2191 BC

The uninscribed standing figure is one of 14 statues discovered in the tomb of Shepses-ptah. It preserves traces of working, and in general gives the impression that it is unfinished. The pose with feet side by side is unusual; normally it characterizes statues of women. Shepses-ptah wears the so-called gala (or half-goffered) kilt.
