Portrait of a Musician

The small open scorebook identifies this serious young man with a cap as a musician. As a close-up, half-length portrait set against a bare wall, the figure gains a size which, together with the markedly three-dimensional depiction of details, allows us to conclude that Pordenone is the creator. This artist is one of the first “Venetians” to concern himself with Central Italian principles of the High Renaissance.
