Papyrus with the ritual for burying an Apis bull

late 2nd to 1st century BC

This papyrus contains precise instructions for priests about how to mummify an Apis bull who had become identified with Osiris. It was written in the Ptolemaic Period, but the ritual it describes was probably older. The texts are written in hieratic and demotic scripts on both sides of the papyrus.
