Die österreichischen Staatsbeamten trugen seit 1849 einheitliche Waffenröcke nach militärischem Vorbild. Nur die Farbe der Samtaufschläge an Stehkragen und Manschetten gab Aufschluss über das jeweilige Ressort (hier: "kornblumenblau" für das Ministerium für Cultus und Unterricht). Der Rang des Trägers wurde durch die Breite der Goldborten und die Anzahl der Rosetten am Stehkragen angezeigt. (MKR)
