Form eines Tieres

1725 - 1600 v. Chr.

The zoomorphic askos is a well-known type of white painted ware V, as evidenced by numerous examples. The handmade, cylindrical body stands on four small stump feet. On the top front, instead of a protome, is a slanted spout with trefoil mouth; at the opposite end of the body a turned-down tail. On the middle of the back, a round basket-handle. Painted decoration in red-brown to gray-brown: on the body circumambient, broad stripe with double groups of strokes arranged in zigzags, framed on the shoulders and bottom edge by a broad band. Striped design on the handle, neck and mouth.
