Something different … On a par with Rembrandt and co.

(in German language)

Get to know the old masters properly: This workshop focuses on one painting at a time. Using pen and brush, we enter into an artistic dialog with the artworks in the Kunsthistorisches Museum. Simple techniques such as doodling, playing with contrasts and color sequences are the methods we use to approach the old masters.

Art in the spotlight

An interactive workshop on the old masters

Through our own co-creative activity, the essence and mystery of a work is revealed with surprising depth. Drawings are made in front of the originals and composition, color and chiaroscuro are examined in detail and artistically explored in the studio. The joint analysis of the work is followed by the students' own artistic realization of the theme and individual reflection on the work using a freely chosen artistic technique.

No previous artistic knowledge is required to participate.
Course instructor: Mag. Ilona Neuffer-Hoffmann
