Education & School

Our programme for primary schools

Exploring the world through art: What did emperors and empresses love to collect? How did people live in ancient Egypt? Are ancient statues always white? And how does colour get into a painting? By looking at artworks together, we discover who created them – and the stories they tell. Our educational programme encourages pupils to develop their own ideas based on what they see and hear, and to connect the artworks with their own experiences.

Get creative: Studio sessions and workshops

From words to action – hands-on artmaking in the museum

After a short guided tour, pupils are invited into the KHM’s studio space to reflect on what they have seen and turn their impressions into creative expression.
Tailored to the age and needs of each group, the sessions allow children to try out materials and artistic techniques. Through making their own art, pupils gain a deeper understanding of what they’ve encountered in the museum – a rich sensory experience.

Our studio is very popular – we recommend booking as early as possible!
