The Virgin and Child with a Pomegranate

In this picture of the Virgin as well, the figural motif, the posture of the child and the way in which Mary is handing him the pomegranate (a symbol of the Resurrection) is based on Netherlandish models and the works of Hans Memling in particular. The colouration and wealth of small brilliant objects, including jewellery, pearls and embroidery, were also influenced by early Netherlandish painting.
