Viola
1762 | Johann Georg Thir
This viola is based on a long model with high arching. The belly's two halves are asymmetrical and bear relatively wide annual rings. The two-piece back exhibits narrow but relatively faint flaming. The f-holes are in the style of Jacob Stainer but stand somewhat less upright. (bd)
Literature: Rudolf Hopfner: Franz Geissenhof and His Time, Bergkirchen 2009, p. 226-227.
