Stele of Senebi

13th Dynasty, ca. 1786-1665 BC

This is a typical Middle Kingdom family stele. Senebi, the owner, had it set up along the processional avenue at Abydos. This guaranteed that everyone depicted on the stele or mentioned in the text, as well as the person who commissioned it, participated symbolically in the procession and the festivities in honor of Osiris.
