Erasmus Habermehl was working as an instrument maker for Emperor Rudplph II in Prague from 1576 to 1606. He made the travel sun dials which were made of gilded copper.  A “shadow pin“ that indicated the time when orientated to the sun, was put in the hole in the middle of the dial.
