Recorder (basset)

This basset recorder from the collection at Ambras Castle has a reversed conical inner bore profile typical for instruments played in recorder consorts producing a soft, warm sound. Except for the wind cap, its authentic harmonious look and pure visual appearance are overwhelming. Even the key mechanism - protected by the fontanelle and therfore not visible at the picture - survived untouched in an extraordinary condition. (bd)
