Monstrance
ca. 1510/20
On certain feast days, Catholic clerics present the consecrated host in a monstrance. So-called tower monstrances, comprising architectural elements, remained popular for a long time in late Gothic art. Allegedly, this monstrance was once used to bless Maximilian I and thus saved his life after he had lost his way in the mountains.
