Elephantine stele of King Amenhotep II

18th Dynasty, Year 3 of Amenhotep II, ca. 1451 BC

Very probably the stele originally stood in the Temple of Khnum on Elephantine. The low­ er part is nowadays in Cairo’s Egyptian Muse­ um. Amenhotep II is represented with various gods – Khnum, the goddess Satet, Amun, and Anukis. The inscription mentions a victorious campaign of the king to Syria and the erec­ tion of the stele in the 3rd year of his reign.
