Pictures composed of glass pearls had been mentioned in the antiquity and have been often been descripted in inventories of chamber of arts. Glass pearls were thread or sewed on, in some cases also anchored. This last technique was used to make this scene of Goliath and it was a speciality of Selow company in Brunswick in the 2nd half of the 18th century.
