The hunting trophy made of turned wood and two chamois horns was used as  wall decoration. The art of turnery was so popular in the 15th and 16th centuries, that princes like Emperor Maximilian I, Archduke Ferdinand II and Emperor Rudolf II had workshops set up to try their hands at this craft. In the Ambras collection, there are several similar trophies (horn and ivory) with horn elements exisiting.
