The house of Habsburg erected only a single public equestrian statue during the 17th century, in Innsbruck. Statuettes, however, were created in greater numbers and series, showing various family members as armoured field commanders. Their heads could be exchanged. The fame of individual personalities was thus only somewhat important: the military achievements of the dynasty were far more central.
