There are many exciting things to discover at the Kunsthistorisches Museum! Here you can marvel at mummies, Roman and Greek artefacts and even one of the first robots.

There are many stories to discover behind the paintings and artefacts in our exhibitions. Be inspired and experience an exciting day full of adventure and interesting facts in the museum!

Group registration

Plan your trip to the Kunsthistorisches Museum – without booking a guided tour. Please note that groups of 10 people or more must be booked in advance. Book your preferred date early to ensure a smooth visit.

Please register your group's visit without a guided tour at least 4 weeks before the desired date.

If you book a group visit, the admission tickets for your visit will be reserved and you will receive a booking confirmation.

Group sizes are limited to a maximum of 25 people in all our exhibitions.

Groups of 10 people or more must be registered.

Depending on how busy the museum is, larger groups will be divided up for admission and enter the exhibitions or special exhibitions at different times.

Admission to our exhibitions is free for children.

Free admission for 1 accompanying person per 5 children. Free admission for required integration companions.

Reservation of a visit is free of charge. Guided tours or workshops are subject to a charge.

The collective cloakroom is available for children's and youth groups. You will receive the key at the information desk. ID and a telephone number must be provided.

Lockers are also available for storage.

For security reasons, jackets and bags may not be taken into the collections.

The Kunsthistorisches Museum is also a great place to find inspiration for drawing lessons.

You can draw with pencils and coloured pencils in the various galleries. Please use a safe surface (e.g. clipboard).

Visit the museum with a guided tour

All guided tours for kindergarten groups are dialogue-based and inclusive. Age-appropriate language and hands-on materials support a playful and engaging museum experience.

Please book at least 2 to 3 weeks in advance.

The tours are designed for children aged 5 and above.
The participation of accompanying educators is required.

Your individual tour lasts approximately 50 minutes.

Each tour can accommodate up to 13 children.
For groups with more than 13 children, parallel tours can be arranged.

Price per guided tour
approx. 60 minutes: €40

Flat rate per tour for up to 13 children.
For groups with more than 13 children, parallel tours can be arranged.


Admission is free for children and accompanying educators.

Visiting rules

Please observe the following when visiting with children:

  • Persons under supervision may not be left unattended in the exhibitions or special exhibitions.
  • Sitting on steps and window sills, staying in narrow places such as entrance areas or passageways, making noise and running in the exhibition rooms is prohibited.
  • Food and drink may not be taken into the exhibitions.
  • Other visitors must not be disturbed or hindered.
  • Exhibition objects may not be touched. Please also do not sit on them, use them as a shelf or lean on them.
