Looking Allowed? Diversity from the 16th to the 18th century
Lecture by Thomas Kuster, Ambras Castle
(in German language)

Lecture by Thomas Kuster, curator at Schloss Ambras Innsbruck, on the exhibition Looking Allowed? Diversity from the 16th to the 18th century and how an exhibition is created.
We are all different and human diversity has always existed, even in the 16th century. This year's special exhibition in Ambras explores the theme of historical diversity under the title "Looking allowed? The exhibition is based on the Ambras collections of Archduke Ferdinand II. Why did The Portrait of a Disabled Man find its way into the Ambras Kunstkammer? Who are the people behind the “Haarfamilie” and why do portraits of “Hofries*innen” and “Hofzwerg*innen” touch us?
Thomas Kuster's lecture not only sheds light on the exhibition content with a “look behind the scenes” but also on the development process of this sensitive project.
