State Chariot of the Princes Schwarzenberg

In 1809 Prince Schwarzenberg, Austrian ambassador and one of the most important generals during the French wars, led the negotiations in Paris on the marriage between Napoleon and Archduchess Marie Louise. His state carriage with its very early neo-gothic decorations is the only safely datable Austrian state carriage of the 18th century and as such of particular importance for the history of European carriage building.
