Dessert Still Life with Bouquet of Flowers

1632 | Georg Flegel

Georg Flegel is one of the most important European still life painters of the early 17th century. He played a significant role in developing this new genre that arose in Flanders, Holland, Italy, Spain and Germany around 1600. An assistant of Lucas van Valckenborch, he painted the still life parts of the other artist’s depictions of markets and the seasons. Typical for Flegel is the use of elevated perspective in his compositions.
