State Chariot of the Grand Equerry

The "Oberststallmeister" ("Master of the Horses", "Grand Equerry"), one of the four highest officials at court, was responsible for the whole transport pool and therefore also for having the vehicles ready for prestigious carriage drives. On occasions such as the festive entry into Vienna of an imperial bride, he also took a prominent role in the proceedings and used this court carriage built around 1790. (MKR)
